So, on this day, the morning Ike hit, someone please tell me how things are going in Beaumont and area?

Gloria ..
Haven't talked to anyone in Beaumont, but have spoken w/ 2 classmates of mine ('66) in Houston. Electricity's off; cell phones may or may not work. The 2 people I spoke to had landlines, and could receive my call, but couldn't make calls.

It would be reasonable to assume Beaumont's in the same fix as most of the folks in Houston.

Take care.

My brother Jerry is working the evacuation with the fire dept.. He's been around the town today - limbs down, power out - physical damage isn't as bad as Rita, but power is going to be out for a while.

Well, we made it safely to Missouri. It's nerve wracking not having local news because I hear Mid-County got hit pretty hard and it's hard to get through the phones. I hope everyone else fared well

Has anyone heard from any classmate in the Crystal Beach area? Very worried about those who live there.

Is it true that everything was wiped out at Chrystal Beach? I haven't seen any videos of that area.

We have friends in Crystal Beach and they lost their cabin and everything. They live there. Say Bolivar Peninsula is wiped out
