Hi Miriam,
I lived near MILTON Allardyce for years. He later became a school principal, I understand. Can you tell me how Sara might be related to him? I'm also from the class of '59 but am having trouble recalling her.

He was my 7th grade Math teacher. As far I can tell they were not related. Her obt was in Beaumont Paper yesterday.He did become principal at MacArthur. His mother was secretary to Mr.Hurst.

Yes, Mrs. Margaret Stopher was a very lovely teacher. I'm guessing that she taught the longest of any teacher at Ogden Elem. where my Dad Scottie W. Chambliss, Sr. was principal. I joined orchestra at Ogden and kept it up through MacArthur Jr. High, SPHS, and even some at Lamar State (University). I play piano for our church. I also give credit to Mr. Meehan for his patience and skill. If you'd like the addy of Mrs. Stopher's son, I'm sure he would like to hear from you via email. Fredy Brown Landis class of 27.Mother of Jill (61?) and Chuck ( 63?). I have know Fredy since I was a baby. We attend the same church. St. Paul's Methodist Church on Woodrow. She will be misesed by her families and her church families.The Landis' lived on Highland across from Alice Keith Park. She is A GREAT GREENIE.

Regarding Greenie: I.B. Chapman who died of lung cancer


I just opened an email dated July 18, 2008 from Audrey Chapman Richards, I.B.'s sister who was in my graduating class of 1959. She wrote:

"My brother just died at 12:17 a.m. today, his birthday, 07/17. Thank you and your church for your prayers. God's intervention was to relieve him of his pain and suffering. He lived three months, one week from the date of diagnosis. And yes, he was a Greenie although he did not graduate...Later he got his GED and went to welding school at Lamar, graduating with top honors. His daughters and son were with him when he died. We had visited that day, but he was not very lucid. He did recognize that Mom and I were there, but then he drifted back to sleep. He was on morphine for pain, and it kept him mostly unaware the last two days...."
