Every true South Parker needs to thank Miriam Nichol for the work, sweat, and effort she is putting into preserving the old South Park High School building. I know there are many, many others working also, but Miriam has this fire in her eyes when she talks about South Park and it is inspirational to others. People don't understand unless they are one of us. I was out recently holding a sign at Highland Avenue and Woodrow to get people to sign a petition to keep the old building. This may sound corny, but I could kind of feel an approval coming from the bricks and mortar of that old place. I could see, in my minds eye, a different time with impressionable young people being molded by tradition, by teachers who cared, and by a school. Now, these people, not so young anymore, are coming together to try and keep a tangible piece of their past intact. I hope it works, I really hope it works...
